Having a good day can be simple or it can be complicated. A lot of that depends on your mindset and how you think about yourself and others, about your surroundings, about what does or doesn’t happen. But not all of it. Somethings happen without your influence. Come to think of it, a lot of things happen without your influence. 7 and a half billion people on this planet and all of them are doing something somehow every single day. Some have a lot of power, most don’t. And yet disasters happen and none of those in power can do a lot to stop that from happening.
And you are an individual, just like me. 1 in 7.5 billion individuals. You can’t change the world and neither can I. But what we can do is make the best of it. Every single day. So, we can have a great day even when we’re not really making a difference in the big picture of this place we call earth. Yes, we can have a great day every single day because of the little things that make us happy. A smile when you didn’t expect it, for example. Or a message from someone you haven’t seen in a long time.
Our mindset determines the majority of our thinking. We can be completely overwhelmed by the problems around us. Or we can be having a great day despite all the problems around us. It is up to us. A positive mindset will not make the problems go away, no matter what the gurus try to tell us. But it will allow us to deal with the problems much better. And as my mother liked to say: you can’t beat them all but you can always annoy them with your smile!
